- Read some of What Color is Your Parachute?
- Scheduled a hair cut and my first personal training session using my Groupons (both for next week)
- Got a massage (the spa I have a Groupon for is booked up until late October, so I just got a 30 minute one that was much needed due to an aching back…this massage set the tone for a very good day)
- Went out for Mexican and had my favorite avocado tacos (and chips & queso…and a mimosa…and “Mexican street corn”…)
- Window shopped at World Market and Goodwill
- Bought frames (50% off!) for my Masters degree diploma and some posters I’ve been lugging around in my car for months
- Bought supplies to organize my paper life (mostly for work): filled a cute binder with paper, tabs, page protectors, and folders, and got a separate organizer to track my spending (which might have come in handy this weekend)
- …And bought a camera bag for my DSLR

Today I:
Couch Potato
I have a sofa! And as mentioned in my previous post, it was $75, baby.
I have exercised superhuman willpower in holding out for functional home-related items as opposed to blowing my tiny amount of spending money on decorative pieces or even just less important functional ones. It’s so helpful to have more seating.
It also feels good to look around and realize how much of my stuff is secondhand (or thirdhand? fourthhand?). I’m proud of that, despite the fact–or because–it’s partially out of necessity.
Here are some contenders for possible wall art for over the sofa, from among my Scotland photographs. Though part of me is craving something sweet, traditional, and unexpected, like old fashioned floral prints in that spot. Hmm.
Yes, I’ve posted most of these before. What can I say, I love almost every photo from that short trip. I am meant to travel. I need to travel more. These are more than snapshots; I felt love and awe as I took each one.
P.S.
Hello guacamole, roasted tomatoes, and banana ice cream! God I love big grocery trips.
P.P.S.
Other major life changes, of the non-furniture sort, lurk just around the corner.
P.P.P.S. Notes to self about decorating:
