Back To The Nest

As I started to get ready for bed tonight, my room felt cozy so I snapped a few pictures. I’m back at my place for the first time in a long time and I spent a few hours getting organized today–mainly focusing on sorting through my paperwork and pulling out clothing and household items I want to consign or donate. Now the hard part is actually getting my stuff to the consignment store and thrift store this week, something I am notoriously bad at getting around to doing. I also cleaned out a pile of crap that was sitting on top of my closet, and consolidated what I’m keeping into three new baskets (see bottom left picture).

I’ve previously written about giving up on my humble little duplex apartment, but I’ve changed my mind a bit. I don’t plan to do much more decorating because I likely won’t renew my lease in December. However, I am suddenly so motivated to clean and organize and de-clutter that my boyfriend–lovingly–said I sound like a third grade nerd excited about organizing her Trapper Keeper. I smiled and didn’t argue because I happen to like that image of myself, even if it’s false. I never had a Trapper Keeper and even if I did, my school notebooks were always a mess.

I have a new favorite blog, which led me to many other great links, like this Guide to Creating a Minimalist Home. All very good stuff.
